Took day off work as I had a wedding to attend in Hampshire in pm. However, with the Exmoor Explorer coming up on Sunday, and not having been on my bike for weeks I decided I needed some exercise.

So, arriving in Cwmcarn at 09:00 and setting off right away, I was pretty much alone on the trail.

Within about 1/2 a mile I was seriously gasping for air. After about 1 mile into the climb, I was seriously knackered. Had to keep stopping for short breaks to catch my breath. As it turns out, I made it to the top in record time (for me) - 54mins. So I must have been pushing myself harder than normal. And with no-else accompanying me, there was no waiting for one-another or stopping to admire the scenery.

Good, dry Cwmcarn ride, but I'm sure the trail is eroding rapidly - there are a lot more rocks & tree roots showing through than last time.
